Vice President Ma'ruf Amin did not deny that there were pros and cons regarding the expansion of 3 regions in Papua. However, he stressed the majority of locals were in favor. The reason, in order to be served quickly.

"That there are (who refuse) yes, but according to research results that the results of various studies, they support the expansion because they want to be served more quickly. Our efforts to them will continue to carry out socialization, dialogue, and provide them with a deeper understanding," Ma'ruf said.

"This means that if the area is divided into services, the coordination is closer with the community. This is the goal to make it easier to serve the community in order to prosper," said Ma'ruf.

According to Ma'ruf, if community services are too far away in one province, they will not be able to fully address the needs of the people.

"And we are committed, we will prioritize those who will become leaders from Papua. Therefore, the DPR has carried out various assessments, the RDPU has carried out various assessments in several areas in Papua, even the governor himself has approved its preparation," he explained.

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco ratified three new autonomous regional bills (DOB) regarding the formation of provinces in Papua, namely South, Central, and Mountains Provinces. This was done while chairing the 26th Plenary Meeting of the DPR RI for Session V for the 2021-2022 Session Year at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta.

"Furthermore, we will ask each faction whether the bill on the formation of the provinces of South Papua, Central Papua Province and Papua Mountains Province can be approved and to be passed to become a law?" said Dasco, tapping the hammer tightly, as seen from the online broadcast.

But after the sound of the trial hammer, there was a voice that interrupted with an interruption. Unfortunately it was not continued, because according to Dasco the moment was not yet the time to interrupt.

"Interrupt later, will we? We are currently making decisions," Dasco explained.

Furthermore, representing the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, gave a statement regarding the Papua new autonomous region Bill. According to Tito, the proposal for the expansion of the province in Papua came from the aspirations of the local community from all parties such as community groups, traditional leaders and local officials there.

In addition, Tito continued, the presence of the division of three new provinces in Papua is solely to carry out the mandate of the Special Autonomy Law for Papua which has been stipulated in July 2021.

"Through these 3 bills, it is hoped that they can become a concrete legal umbrella in the framework of governance in the three provinces in the future with the main aim of accelerating development in Papua, improving the welfare of the Papuan people, especially indigenous Papuans," said Tito.

"On behalf of the government, we have approved this bill to be passed into a law," Tito continued, closing.
